Well peoples it has almost been 12 months since I last posted in my photography blog. I have done a couple of courses with Ziggy Ziegler (AIPP) from Airlie Beach. I hang off of his words of wisdom and he has given me the confidence to take my camera off the AUTO settings and into the manual modes...with a confidence that I am proud of my photography. Even doing my first Wedding.

I have been sharing all my photos on my facebook profile, sadly neglecting this lil old blog. But I am going to bring you all back here hopefully, to view my love of photography.
During this past year I have not only brought another Canon camera body 600D
I have brought several lenses Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II for portraits and my absolute favourite lens Tamron AF 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC as well as a
wide angle lens for those indoor moments with lots of people when you want to capture the mood in the roomTamron SP AF 10-24 f 3.5-4.5 Di II .
When asked to be the photographer at the Wedding in June I knew that I would need a flash, so I got myself a Canon Speedlite 430EX II. Still don't know much about it yet, but I am practising.

It is almost Melbourne Cup Pavillion(see post below) time again, this year Ziggy is going to be the judge of the photography section. I know my photography has improved out of sight since then, but sooo has everyone elses around Collinsville because of these courses with Ziggy.

We have a camera club that meets here in Collinsville on the 2nd Wed of the month at the Telecentre (where I work) to show off our photos for our monthly theme - which this month is "FOOD". We also meet every Sunday afternoon at 4pm at the local Foodworks and then head out taking photos around the region.

Hello everyone, Ohhh that is if anyone is still interested in my photography blog!

Been way too long I know, I have been busy with my new job! BUT I have been playing with my camera a fair bit on the weekend....Just not uploading here! Mostly on Facebook, sorry to my loyal followers.

Baz and I have been doing some road tripping on the weekends now that I am a working class woman. Here is some to wet your appetite.

Here are so photos of the Weir from Australia Day, this water is clear must have come from Broken River the 30th this water is clear must have come from Broken River n Today But this water is full of red dirt must have come from Little Bowen & Broken River
Now that the river has gone down this is what it looks like...Swimming hole
Now Girls I know you are all probably thinking this is hard to believe that there was no water there and then now there is heaps of water. The water that is in this river comes from Eungella about 250 klms away.

As you have all seen today how magical the river looks when it is in flood! Seeing this river in flood makes my heart skip a beat!!! Well this morning I went out at 6.50am to see if it was in flood already and this is what was in the river....Now tonight after hubby come home we were told that the river was in minor flooding. So we hopped in the car and saw this along the way, watching the storms build out at the river. What a difference 12 hours makes to the river. It was like 7.00pm when we arrived at the river and this is what we saw on one side of the river approx 8 metres high....it has to get to 15 mts to go over the car bridge.
And Lisa this is where your kids were swimming under the trees and swinging off the tree into the river (with the croc's) just to the left of that dead tree! LOL!and this is what was on the other sideI will be going to the river first thing in the morning, hopefully it won't have gone over the bridge during the night. OMG I love this river!!!

Rain, Rain, Rain....Don't go away!!!

Hi peoples....It has been raining here on and off since the 25th...Yesterday was the best rainfall that we have had this month! Courtesy of Ex Tropical Cyclone Olga!

Everything is looking really fresh, and it has turned the dead brown grass to lush green grass!!! I don't know exactly how much rain we have had but I think it has been at least 4 inches! But we have had heaps more in our river catchment area!!! So this is why the Weir is running over!

I have a couple of photos from last year on the 31st Jan 09! And one of the weir on the 2nd of Feb 09.Then these are the latest ones from Jan 26th 2010 and then yesterday
and today, I will go out to the river later and take a photo of it!!!

Bowen Wharf, Tugs and Black Cockatoos

It has been so long since I have been here and updated...I am so sorry if you have been to visit.But tonight I got inspired again!!! Thanks to Camera Club and Shutter (check this out a bit further down)

A few locals here have started an amateur camera club, meeting once a month!
It started with 10 of us, wonder how many will turn up when everyone knows about it.....We have been set our first challenge....

Take the camera off of Auto and photograph a specific tree at the local Lions park.

Anyway getting back to my photos...Here are a few from Sunday at Bowen, these are the tugs at the Bowen Wharf/Jetty . There is usually only the 2 white ones out there but I was fortunate that 3 were there on Sunday!
But I do however have some photos of Black Cockatoos!
I saw the hugest turtle I have ever seen but unfortunately for me all you can see in the photo is just a bit of his head just out of the water! So I can't share these with you.

I used to visit Shutter when it was a photography blog but tonight I joined the Shutter Ning Site which is run by Mel Connell. Pop over and sign up and add your photo to the Photo challenge "Luminate" this fortnight ending 17th. I have just added 2 photos of what I see as Luminate. Well Good night now it is way past my bed time!!!

Playing with a Macro lens....at the river!

Last month I went to river with Baz and my friend Marissa to have a play with her lenses....I had so much fun taking photos of all the cicada's. I also took some photos of Baz and some old barbed wire and the river...I love the look of rusty barbed wire This photo is taken through the windscreen of the car...Pretty good hey??I have done 2 baby belly shoots in the last couple of months and I will share them with you over the weekend after I take the latest one on Thurs.

My Happy Place

Good Morning Girls....Thanks for all your wonderful comments on my wins at the local show pavilion.

I want to share with you today photos of me in my happy place!!! I took these photos on Tuesday before I knew that I had won at the show...So to come home and find out that I had cleaned up at the show winning $200 in vouchers for printing, inks and photo paper!!! Woo Hoo....Wonder if I am able to buy a new printer my old one is starting to leave marks on my photos. Grr but I just cover it with an embellishment.
And these next couple of photos are of the wildlife that was around while I was out there for 4 1/2 hrs....See that big arse bull, he stalked me!!! I had to hide behind this huge tree right on the bank of the river. Melbourne Cup Show Entries

A lazy Thurs afternoon by the river

Yesterday I had such a lovely lazy afternoon.....Baz & I went to the river....to our favourite spot. I actually asked him to prepare me a romantic picnic while I was at work for an hour...Well that sent him into a spin!!! Barry wouldn't know ROMANCE if it bit him on the bum...But he did however throw in my pillows so had a comfy spot to rest my head on the blanket!!!I also got to take some photos of Dragonflies, Birds in the distance and a lil baby calf!!And we also got to do a spot of fishing....But first you have to find the worms...
well that is Baz job!!! And then we also had some very unwelcome visitors...Yeh Snakes!!! 3 of them...only got 2 in photos though!

On Sunday I had the pleasure of going to Bowen again...this time to watch Hannah Montana...go see it, it is a great chick flick!!! Paradise found...take me away to this beautiful place

Yesterday I had to go to Airlie Beach again....Baz needed to have his tooth repaired....it was very ouchy on his tongue and our bank balance!!! Ohh well, that is life! There was an upside to yesterday I got to play with my new camera!

I found the perfect destination....Shute Harbour and all the views over the ocean!
MMMMM dreaming of a beautiful location like this one day when I am rich and famous LOL! I took some very random shots of unusual things

Then we went to Abel Point Marina and I took a lot of photos of the Marina but I also found all of these to take photos of too! Will share the Marina photos another day. Love the shutter speed on my auto setting...it allowed me to get these photos of this white bird during flight! And as we were leaving the white bird was grooming itself!!!

I have decided that I love taking photos on my macro setting...getting really up close and personal.
Ohhh I am sure that I have bored you all tonight...I am like you Sue....

My new baby...and just a quick play!!

Good Morning all you beautiful people in the world! Hope you are all having a wonderful week and enjoying the scenery and your life....Here is what is making me happier this week!I have got a new camera so right at this very moment I am so excited and can't wait to learn and play some more!!! Baz snapped this one of me...I love it! Except all the greys LOL!This is what I did yesterday....it was just a quick play
Ok that is it for me....I'm off to Airlie Beach today....My poor hubby needs to go to the dentist....he broke a tooth yesterday while eating lunch and now his tongue is all cut up from the jagged tooth!!! OUCH!!!!

So hopefully today....I will be able to take some great shots from Airlie Beach and Proserpine!!! Might even get a canefire today if we are in luck! Hello my lovelies!!! Just thought I would share these couple of photos with you today....they are of Sugar cane on my friends property!!! Well actually mainly the spears of sugar cane. The cane spears like this when it is ready to be harvested!! I was leaving the property around 5.20pm and the sun was just shining in the right place for me to take these photos!!

Bowen - Walking along the Jetty on Sunset

Well Girls I am back here again...I have been inspired again to take my camera out and get some photos!!! I went to Bowen again on Friday afternoon!
We had to pick the carpet for our room which is going to be laid on Tues(hopefully) and Baz went to watch Termination Salvation or some crap like that so I had a couple of hours to kill so what better way to spend an afternoon than by the beach with my camera These next 2 photos are taken one straight after the other...The first one is on the Sunset setting and the 2nd one is just taken on Auto setting isn't it AMAZING the difference in quality!!! Love the Sunset setting on my lil Fuji !!!These next 7 photos are taken just for Sue & Sheri....They live by the sea at Bermi and are always taking photos of beachy scenes and they have commented on the Jetty before in my photos! So these are for you girls!
Yesterday while I was at Proserpine on a friend's cane property I took some photos of all the cane spears with the sunset glowing on them....Will share with you tomorrow maybe!!! Hope you all had a great weekend!

Hi Girls...Thanks for visiting and leaving me your thoughts on my photography!!! I am finally here again to add some photos that I took on Sun when I went to Bowen with Kirrily!!! Kirrily was going on a date to the movies with the new man of interest and I was going to take photos of things in Bowen but there wasn't much to take photos of for a change! But here is what I did get!!
I'm off to Bowen again today to check out my carpet...hopefully it will be laid on Tues....So excited about finally being able to move into our room early next week, looks like the airconditoner will be fixed too!!! Finally it has only taken them 4 months!!!

Dragonflies at the river

I'm Back...Sorry I have been MIA!!! Not much happening around the Ville to report....Nothing much to photograph!! But on Saturday I took Kirrily to the river so that she could take some photos with her new camera OLYMPUS U Tough 8000, 12 MP and Waterproof to 10 mtrs! Her friend has an older model and she loved it so she wanted one. Now she won't have to borrow mine all the time!!! Here are just a couple of her photos!!! I love the Weir so much!!! And another blue dragonfly

I took mine along as well and sat at the rivers edge (hoping a croc wouldn't jump out of the water) and took heaps and heaps of photos of Dragonflies!!! Mostly blue ones today....the red ones are so fast!!!!! I even got a dragonfly couple being intimate on a smoke packet and then flying off to a dried up piece of cow s#*!!!

Sunset at Abel Point Marina!

Morning....Hope this finds you all well!!! I am feeling 100% since I have been on the drugs and breathing all that Sea air! Sorry I didn't load these as promised yesterday...I lost a day completely!!! Think it must have had something to do with that Sea air. Yeh about 2.40 yesterday I realised it was Tues not Monday and I had completely forgotten about Scrapbooking Classes that I had to do in less than 3 hrs! LOL!!! Yeh I am going insane I am sure of it!!!

they have the boat show there this weekend.

And the last but not least is from a jetty near that sailing club where we went for tea and listened to a Jazz Band and a horrible singer! The band were great but OMG that singer I could not understand a word she was singing!
Well that is all from me for a while...I am off to Brisbane/Gold Coast tomorrow to stay with my friend Rach and her family! Lots of Scrapbooking will get done and lots and lots of catching up with all of my online friends!!! Hopefully I will have heaps and heaps of new photos to share with you when I return to the Ville!

Kite Surfing Photos on a miserable, wet and wind day in Bowen

Well Good Morning to you all, hope it is not too cold for you all!!! Here we are getting this cool lil sneaky breeze!!! I am still in my jim jams!!! Yeh I know I am slack...but I am a bit yuk today!!! Just need to give myself a good slapping and get myself moving. But first I wanna share some not so good photos that I took while I had to do a quick trip to Bowen yesterday!!! Sorry bout the quality! But if you click on them you can make them bigger. Well as you can see I didn't get this loaded this morning as it is now 3.51pm. I have scrapbooking tonight lets hope that I can actually get some scrapbooking for me done!!!

Almost neglected....But not tonight!

Ohhh My Poor Photography Blog has almost been neglected!!! It has been almost 10 days since I last posted anything and 15 days since I last posted a photo! Well today I am going to share heaps and heaps of photos you will probably be bored with all of them.

After learning all this stuff about how to use the camera on different setting I tried the Shutter speed setting today....Baz & I went towards the Bowen River Hotel, but we got sidetracked! I saw lots and lots of galah's on a clearing near a dam. So out I got and I got my trusty tripod and camera out to take some photos. Well I took about 20 photos of these galah's and this is the best shot! Click on it to make it full sized.
It was back in the car then onto the river, we decided not to go to the Hotel, we went down to the water's edge....have to be very careful lots and lots of croc's in that river!!! I took some photos of the water running over tree branches and rocks but I am not happy enough with the quality to share them with you all. I took this photo of a tree hanging over in the river and the reflection on the water.

Then I saw this really cool looking root or vine....Then I wanted to try my shutter speed setting on a rock being thrown in the water and catching the splash. I took 3 all in very close succession of eachother....2 are very dark and one is light! It was still daylight. And you can see where the rock is almost hitting the water, then it hit the water and then Baz threw another rock and this is what the shot looks like! Don't know what I did but they were all taken within a 3 min time frame. Can't tell you what setting I had them on until I work out where to find it in Photoshop 7.
Then another photo taken with the rock and the splash and I am really happy with the composition of this shot! Captured the perfect splash and the droplets of water but again it was daylight not dark when I took this photo!
On the way home we saw lots and lots of Deer, Plain Turkey's, Kangaroo's, Kookaburras, Hawks, Pelicans and I got these awesome sunset photos. Hope you like them Sue Had heaps of fun taking photos today....So happy that I am able to put into practise some of the new skills I have learnt from the camera course!!! Camera Course - OMG! I have so much to learn!!!

Well today I went to Bowen for the 1st day of my Camera Course - Taking Your Camera Off Auto. I have always loved photography and I am sure that this is going to make me love it even more!!! There is so much to learn about it though!!!
There was 5 of us there today and I was so surprised how much more my camera could do than what I knew how to play with!!! Taking it off the Auto setting is going to be trial and error though! I am going to read my manual now! And play play, play and play some more with the settings! Practise makes perfect!

We started off with Shutter Speed and Aperture...well I thought I had a fair idea about them but Ahh I still have lots to learn!

I do know though that Shutter Speed determines how long the shutter stays open, thus controlling the exposure to the image sensor.
The slower the shutter speed-the more light that will reach your film. So in the case of a waterfall and you want to capture it so it looks like the water is held in suspension you need to have a slow shutter speed so you achieve this look.
The faster the shutter speed-the less light will reach your film. So in the case of a child running in a sports day race you need to have a really fast shutter speed to freeze the action and avoid blurry images.

Then we went onto Aperture - Regulates the amount of light passing through the diaphragm opening in a camera lens when the photograph is taken. Aperture size is recorded as f stops, the larger the f stop the smaller the diaphragm opening is. This diagram is taken from Photography The Resource Page
Then we spoke about Depth of Field or (dof), which is another word for 'zone' of sharpness between the nearest and furthest of the subject in focus. So the larger dof you need a smaller aperture to make the image sharp. And a small dof results in the foreground being in focus and while the background is blurred! This is where we tried to take photos of flowers getting the ones in the front in focus and the ones at the back out of focus....I did say I tried but I didn't get this to happen when I photographed the Lilium and Gerbera flowers! I said that I have to practise more and more!Then we went onto all the different modes on the camera. These I will explain tomorrow! As I am now getting confused!!!

OMG by the time it was finished I was so confused....But I know that I have to play with my camera now to get the right setting in the manual section of my camera....So taking it off the AUTO setting seems a lil daunting I am sure with practise I will be taking perfect pics in no time! Well I hope I will anyways!

Not that much has been happening in the photo department at the moment,
I have been very slack! This Saturday I am heading into Bowen for a camera course, Taking Your Camera Off Auto! So hopefully I will learn lots of new stuff and start to take some more photos.

The first two are inspired by looking at Sue's gorgeous photos earlier this morning. There are so many things I love about Sue's photography but the thing I love the most is Sue's Sunsets....They are just gorgeous!!! Today's inspirations from Sue was this lil tiny dragonfly on her bright orange flower (Yeh I had to look for him Sue) And always her beautiful sunsets that she takes...Yesterday's photos were so stunning with the sun and pine trees and smoke haze.

Then the next one is also inspired by Sue's blog....Of the glowing red sun during the bushfires.

Flowers From My Garden and my Shutter entry

Now getting back to matters at hand here on my photography blog - What to share with you today...Flowers from my Garden & Vegie Patch! We had a very beneficial vegie garden in 2007! We did companion planting to combat the bugs.So we planted Marigolds and Garlic beside and in between the vegies.
I hate the smell of marigolds but I love their vibrancy as seen in these 2 different coloured varieties and these have water droplets from the hose.

Hope these photos inspire you to take photos of your vegie garden too!!!

And now don't laugh at me but this week over at Shutter, they want you to take a photo of something you can't live without- My first thoughts were of my DH & My Beautiful children and then my mind ran off to chocolate, so then I asked DD what she thought that I couldn't live without and and here is what she said that she thought I couldn't live without!!! And I think I would have to agree! I love the computer and the internet! Thank You Big Pond!!!

New Life - Oleander Crow

I am 41 yrs of age and I don't ever recall seeing one of these in my life...
So I am very excited to have actually seen part of the life cycle of a Butterfly.

On Saturday while I had Treena & Jeff still visiting I saw this thing hanging off of my Hoya (wax plant) and I was like OMG OMG!!! I was so excited....so I quickly raced inside and grabbed my camera(of course) and proceeded to take a million photos of the chrysalis.....So then over the course of the next 4 days I watched it get darker and darker and then yesterday morning I saw that it was very black and I was like OH NO I am going to miss the butterfly emerging from the pupa. You see I was going to Ayr yesterday for a Chiro appointment, so I left a note at the computer to jog Kirrily's memory so that she could take a photo of it! She actually missed the moment it emerged from the pupa but she actually got the photo of the butterfly before it flew away. It normally take about 2 weeks for the butterfly to form, so it must have been hanging there for a whole week and I hadn't even noticed it.

I am so happy that we got to see the butterfly....I would have wished I got to see the moment as it was emerging from the chrysalis, but I am just happy to have finally seen one with my own eyes. A bit of everything

Good Morning one and all....These first 3 photos were taken near the river or on one of our many drives to the river! If I don't go to the river about 20-30 mins drive away at least once a week, I start to go crazy!!! The river is my happy place!

This photo was taken on one of my early morning photo sessions...We were out taking photos of Moonlight Cactus to capture them before they close up at dawn

This sunset was taken near Nebo/Glenden when there was a huge fire around somewhere. The red glow from the fire just set the sun alight!!!

Mystery Drive....to all this beauty

Finally I have the time to get around to sharing some more of my photos with you. These were taken on Easter Sun when Baz & I went for a Mystery Drive to what I thought would be Mt Dangar!!! But as I said in my blog post we didn't get to where I wanted to go, BUT! I got to take some lovely scenery photos along the way!

Hello one and all....Here's hoping today is a beautiful day for you all!!

Just wanted to share with you some totally random photos and one that's a lil bit of naughty photo! Funny Naughty!!!

Looks a lot like a bear hugging my mango tree....but NO! That isn't it!!!
Will tell you at the end of this post.
The next photo is of raindrops on the long grass at the river when it was in flood last year! I took this photo with my friend Marissa's old camera Canon EOS 350D while she was playing with her new camera Canon EOS-1D Mark III.
This photo is of a Tree at Eungella National Park.....Love how the vines have become part of the tree....

And this last photo is a lil bit naughty....But I did warn you I take the photos of everything!!! We were on holidays at Mission Beach and I saw this photo opportunity!!!And the answer to my question in the 1st photo is.... A Swarm of Bees took over my mango tree. It was totally random chance that I got this photo!!!
My Son Jeff was mowing our lawn and had been in the backyard for quite some time and I went down to give him a drink and that was when I noticed the black thing in the mango tree!!! I was like get away from there!!! Obviously the queen bee had moved the hive and all of the workers just followed! We left them alone and the next morning they were gone!!! Just lucky for me that I saw them because Jeff didn't!!!

This is my happy place, the one place that takes my cares away!!! I always feel so relaxed and happy when I come back from the Bowen River!!! Just wanted to share these photos with you. It was about 5 pm when we got out to the river, so yes these photos are a lil dark! They have a natural late afternoon ambiance!!!

Sorry it has taken me so long to update my photo blog, but I am just so fortunate that I have my external with all my photos on because I lost all my doc's and photos on my new computer over the weekend. Creepy Crawlies

Well hello, and how are you all??? I am feeling a bit better! Today I think I am going to share some photos with you all that might just make you go weak in the knees!!! Creepy crawlies!! Just lots of photos...some not as clear as I would have liked but some of them I had never ever seen before!! Any clues as to there names can you fill me in please???

I took both of these first 2 photos with my GF's huge big camera and didn't really know what I had to do with it so I just hoped for the best, they look better when you make the photo full size so just click on them and that will happen.

Well actually I have been a bit under the weather, visiting Dr's to find out what is wrong with me....I must be sick because I went away for the weekend, took 2 of my cameras with me and never took a single photo!!! This is not like me!!!

Thank you for all the comments that you have left me, and I am glad that I am inspiring you to take photos of different things to what you normally take photos of!!! Most of my photos are just pure strokes of genius courtesy of the my digi cameras. I don't have a fancy or expensive camera, most of my photos are taken either with my Canon Power Shot A400 - 3.1mp or Fuji Finepix S5700 - 7.1mp.
The 2 photos of the Fungi were taken with Daniek's camera (The exchange student from The Netherlands that lived with us for a year)
And I haven't even shared any of my photos from my SLR Pentax MZ-60 with you yet, it takes the most beautiful photos, but I tend not to use it as often as I should! Probably because we don't have a photo lab here in town to process my films!

Beautiful Blooms

This is the Moonlight Cactus - (Harrisia Cactus)
These blooms only ever appear during the cover of darkness
By the time the sun appears in the morning sky they close up
these photo were taken early AM

This is a close up of Crepe Myrtle
Love the colour of this plant growing in my garden
This is a bottlebrush bloom in the Noosa NP

This is a very dark photo due to the weather conditions
of a lone Daisy bloom with rain droplets on the petals
Lastly probably the most ugliest plant in the world -

Welcome to my personal photographic blog - The Focus Is On You. As my bio says I have been taking photos for longer than I can remember!!! I surround myself with photos of my family and friends throughout the house.
Since starting scrapbooking in 2002, I have taken so many more photos than ever before. Photos of things that I would never have taken before....I would love to join a photography club and learn so much more about this wonderful hobby, that captures the photographs that help us to remember the wonderful moments we share...This is why I want to share my photos with you!

I have so many great photos that I would love to share with you all, at the moment it is usually only my family and few friends who get to see my photos. But of course there are the ones that I scrapbook and upload to my personal blog - CreativeMe68 . I love seeing those on a LO that I have created. Hope you enjoy my photos too!
